How we can help you

Page 1 2

Whatever your problem, we can help. We are experienced in dealing with a range of problems and often refer internally to therapists with the skills more suited to your needs so you can be confident we will always have your best interests taken care of.

Whether you're in pain or have a lack of mobility, a persitant niggle or postural problem that may have been present for years, or whether your ailment is that you're highly stressed, depressed, anxious or run down, or you feel lethargic often with a lack of motivation, or perhaps you are struggling to sleep or think straight, come and see us and I feel you'll be amazed at how something apparently so simple can be so effective.

We've put together a chart to help you determine the most appropriate type of massage, we have also listed some of the most common problems below, still not sure? Get in touch, we are more than happy to offer advice at any time of the day.

Painful Shoulders, Neck and Back : THE HOLISTIC BACK MASSAGE

Quite often, as you may be aware, as a result of the job that you do, whiplash, or an injury, a person can suffer with discomfort in areas of their back, ranging from a dull ache to chronic pain. To treat such symptoms we would suggest The Holistic Back Massage, the Essential Oils can be blended to acts as an Analgesic (pain killer) and a Relaxant (to soften muscles), and then applied with Holistic and Deep Tissue Massage techniques. We will start by stroking and kneading the area to gently soften the muscle tissue and drain away any swelling so we are able to seek out the adhesions, or knots, that can inflict pressure on the surrounding muscles, tendons and bones causing pain and difficult movement, during this period, we can also survey your bone structure to let you know if you may need to seek the help of a Chiropractor as well, althpugh often once the muscles are released the bone posture returns to normal. During the first session we are usually able to reduce what we like to refer to as ‘surface tension’, which can be felt as a ‘crunchy’ texture within the muscles and relax firm areas by applying careful Acupressure and kneading, the dispersed tension releases toxins which have been held in the muscle that we then drain away. After this process, it may be necessary to continue with some Remedial techniques such as Neuromuscular Technique, Soft Tissue Release, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Techniques and so on; either during the first session or, if the area is still slightly swollen from the first go we may spend the time draining the muslces and suggest you come back a week later so as not to damage any of the tender tissue which could need time to heal. This technique, we are proud to say, is nearly always successful in treating even the oldest of muscular tension, you may need to visit us up to four times weekly to get the best from the technique but we promise you relief after the first session, we then would suggest you visit us monthly for 'maintenance' sessions to stop tension from building up. It’s important to drink plenty of water after a massage session where tension is targeted, see Aftercare on more advice on what can help.

Muscular Stress as a Result of Exercise: SPORTS MASSAGE

If a person exercises regularly, such as running or weight lifting, this can put a lot of strain on the muscles as they change to maintain your fitness. It’s very important to stretch before and after a fitness session as this encourages your muscles to elongate and grow, a form of Pilates is a brilliant way of maintaining strength and flexibility, and massage can be vital in building a functioning and pain free muscular system as it softens, releases tension and stretches the areas for best performance and appearance. We’d suggest regular Sports Massage for anyone who wants to get the most out of their fitness regime as it helps muscles be in the very best condition, stronger, more flexible and toned, it's great for pre-event as brings energy to the muscles, as well as post event as effectively lengthens and drains lactic acid.
