Essential Oils, when used during Aromatherapy Massage, must be diluted before being applied to the skin. For a full body massage 10 – 20 drops of Essential Oil are applied to approximately 20ml of Carrier Oil. The Carrier Oil will be determined on the dryness and sensitivity of your skin and whether your have oily or hairy areas but they are all very moisturising and warming for the body.
Almond Oil
Almond Oil is very light and full of skin loving vitamins and minerals. It carries Essential Oils very well and it is my most commonly used oil as it is highly moisturising and sinks slowly into the skin, yet it is not the best oil to use for hairy or oily skin or when someone has a nut allergy.
Peach Kernel Oil
Is also full of wonderful vitamins for the skin and encourages cell regeneration so is particularly good for aged, sensitive, inflamed, or dry skin.
Grapeseed Oil
Is very very light and rich in protein and minerals Grapeseed Oil is particularly good for use on men and for hairy, rough or oil-prone skin.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba has a very smooth texture as it contains a waxy substance which is very good for improving the condition and tone of the skin as it mimics collagen, is protein rich and contains minerals. It can also treat psoriasis, eczema, acne or particularly dry or sore areas and is very effective on aging skin. Although it can be applied directly to small areas, when using in Aromatherapy Massage Jojoba Oil is diluted to 10%, usually with Almond Oil.
