Massage and Headaches

Massage can be a great tool for relieving pain caused by headaches and migraines and has been used as a treatment for this for decades. There are various types of headaches and migraines but some are more common than others. They can be very debilitating and frustratingly are not well funded in the UK so research is very limited in this area.

One of the more common type of headache are tension headaches which are caused by tense muscles in the neck and shoulders causing a dull, aching pain being felt in the neck and at the base of the skull and sometimes a pulling sensation at the back of skull can be felt.

Other types of headache include cluster headache. This has been described as the most pain a human can endure, even worse than giving birth or breaking bones. A sharp pain can be felt in one eye and can happen in groups for days or even weeks.

Aromatherapy Oils

When creating Aromatherapy blends, essential oils are used. This gives blends therapeutic properties as well as a scent.  Aroma therapists usually blend oils using a similar method to that used to create perfumes. Normally only three or four essential oils are used in a blend and these will be comprised of at least one each of top, middle and base notes.  This can make a blend smell more pleasant or balanced but it also means that the blend will have a synergy since different oils can be combined to create a blend with more therapeutic properties than that of a single essential oil.  Blends can be made to help with a variety of symptoms or problems because of this.

Essential oils can be divided into top, middle and base notes although there is still debate over some oils as to which category they belong in.

Consultation forms are used commonly in settings where information about an individual needs to be gathered such as at an Osteopath, Physiotherapist or a Massage therapist.
The initial part of a consultation form is a patient’s personal details; full name, address, phone numbers, emergency contacts etc. This information will be gathered onto our client base so that if the patient was to return it would make accessing their details a lot quicker, easier and would save time.

How Sports Massage helps flexibility and strength

 

Sports Massage has many benefits such as the reduction of pain and tension, great preparation for a sporting event or as a relaxing treatment after an event to remove all the unwanted products. Life with muscular pain

Pain effects everyone at some time.

A lot of people suffer with muscular pain at some point in their life, whether it’s an acute injury that came on very quickly or a niggling ache that has been apparent for years that has never quite gone away.

In this blog we talk about pain, different types of injury and where it stems from and how we can help.

As therapists we try and help people to become more self aware about their bodies, we try to let people know that the pains that they are feeling are not a natural part of life and not something that they have to get used to. Rather that there are treatments to ease tension and correct posture and most importantly reduce discomfort and pain to help them feel better and realise that they can still do certain things that they thought were no longer possible.
