My name is Lidia and I just joined the You Massage team!
Let me tell you briefly how my journey began….
It all started with a dream; a dream of helping others and living in harmony with myself. I thought the best way to accomplish this is to become a doctor.
However, fate led me to another, and now I know, a better path, to work Holistically. I became a physiotherapist, massage therapist, nutritionist and cosmetologist, helping people without medicine.
Working with clients and listening to their stories, I began to notice that the way we look and feel is based mainly on our lifestyle.
This is how my fascination with integrative health and cosmetology began. This is a client-centered approach that focuses on the root cause of the problem and the whole person – not just physical symptoms. The root cause is usually our lifestyle.
When a skin problem rears its ugly head, our initial response is usually to try and treat the symptom – blast those nasty spots with a strong spot treatment or to put lotions and balms over dry, red or irritated skin. Whilst some of these treatments can provide some short-term relief, they rarely deal with the root cause of the issue.

It is important to remember that your skin is the largest organ of your body with an extremely important function (primarily to protect the rest of your body from microbes and the external environment) and is connected via your bloodstream to the rest of your body. Recent research has shown that the skin is particularly connected with the digestive system, which is why if you suffer from digestive problems there is a high chance you may also experience issues with your skin as well.
It’s therefore important to take a holistic approach to skincare that considers our diet and physical health, as well as our emotional and spiritual well-being as all these aspects of our lives, are intrinsically interconnected; if we feel good about ourselves, we will take better care of ourselves – this results in better skin and better physical health which in turn helps us feel better about ourselves…
That is why at Cherish we don’t just create great, natural skincare treatments (although we do that too), we consider the whole person, both physically and emotionally. If your diet is Continue reading →

Otherwise known as allergic rhinitis or pollinosis, hayfever is an allergic reaction triggered by allergens such as dust, pollen, mites, grasses, moulds, animal fur/hair and/or air pollution. The condition tends to occur seasonally with outdoor allergens and at any time to those found indoors but can also happen at any time of year too.
Hayfever occurs when allergens become trapped in the fine hairs and mucous membranes of the nasal passages, mouth, throat and lungs. The immune system reacts by stimulating the release of the antibody Immunoglobin E (IgE), which is designed to fight and eliminate the allergens. Histamine is then released from the IgE to flush the allergens out of the airways, which produces a list of symptoms described below.

When ordering coffee there is a lot of choice – do you want a quick and effective espresso, a luxurious cappuccino, or a gentle latte (maybe with a flavor shot of something sweet or nutty)? There are a lot of options, and making sure that you get what you actually want is going to make or break the experience. Like coffee, massage now comes in many styles – all different, all designed to suit different needs; and just as important to get right when it comes to choosing which one to have.
Deciding on a gift or a treat is not always the easiest thing to do especially if it’s a person who you haven’t known very long. With Christmas coming up it’s time to start thinking about our loved ones and finding them the perfect gift to say Thank you and I love you.
But where do you start? You could trawl around the shops for a few weeks looking at a whole bunch of “pretty good” ideas or you spend your evenings on the net searching for “great Christmas gifts for….”.
After all that you might be lucky and the “gift” but sometimes we buy things which we think are awesome (secretly may have bought it so we can have a go) but unfortunately they may not. We’ve all done it, bought a gift and then spent the next few weeks wondering whether it’s the right thing after all.
The Full Works You Massage Therapy is a luxury treatment aimed at aiding relaxation and will have a calming effect on anyone lucky enough to enjoy one. This treatment will last for an hour and will involve a mini holistic facial and scalp massage, an aromatherapy back massage and a mini reflexology foot massage.
The therapist will start with the mini holistic facial cleansing, toning and moisturising your skin to leave it feeling fresh, smooth and revitalised. Leading on from this the therapist will start a scalp massage to reduce any tension built up in this area and will in turn increase relaxation and reduce stress.
There have been a lot of changes in the health industry in the last few decades, and many new or previously rarer therapies have been getting a lot more attention because of this. Massage is one of those therapies now getting more attention and use, with much medical research being done into the benefits of massage, and many massage styles being modified and tailored to compliment research findings.
One of the most medically tested styles of massage is Lymph Drainage Massage – designed to increase the flow and drainage of lymph fluid and thus reduce cellular waste build-up. Lymph Drainage Massage is now often done in hospitals to help patients with kidney or heart problems whose systems have trouble expelling lymph fluid without assistance.
At You Massage Therapy we believe natural facial products are the most beneficial to your skin. Our skin is the largest organ in the body so it’s important to look after it and using the right skin care will go a long way towards keeping your skin young and healthy. Regular facials will also help to stimulate blood circulation, speed up lymph movement and remove dead skin which will improve the look and condition of your skin.
