Hello, my name is Cristina, and I have just joined You Massage Therapy as a Sport Massage Therapist.
Sport and health are the two areas I have always been very interested in. After finishing school, I moved to Chieti (Italy), looking for a good Sport Science program at the university. During my three years of the undergraduate course, I started exploring the basic of Sport Science and also went deeper into some fields. I was really excited by most of the subjects I was studying, particularly anatomy, neuro-anatomy, physiology and sport performance.
I graduated in February 2006, and my final thesis was about “Shoulder impingement syndrome”.
Having a Sports massage during the winter is probably more important than it is in the Summer periods. Whatever the season, athletes and office workers should take to the table at least once a month.
During autumn as we approach winter, our bodies become slow and our immune system starts to slow with the temperature, increase of virus’s and colds. Whilst having a massage with a cold or flu won’t be any good for you or your therapist as you wouldn’t want one of us to go down as we then won’t be able to do our job. More importantly having a massage whilst feeling rough will just make you feel better.
It is believed that when our bodies as a female are under stress regardless of whether you feel ‘stressed’ ovarian cysts can form very quickly in a matter of days which is a symbol of our inner body trying to speak out to us as women.
I chose to practice massage therapy a few years ago as I was initially intrigued by its simplicity yet profound effect on calming the body and mind. I believe that our bodies have all they need within to heal themselves from the mental trauma and daily stress we put them though. YOU Massage Therapy is a space where you can rest and receive hands-on treatment to encourage your body-mind to realign with its natural state. Having studied and worked in western medical science for over ten years, I know what our bodies get up to during periods of disease. ‘Dis-ease’. So much of this is caused by our lifestyle; rushing around, eating on-the-hoof, fizzy drinks, poor posture, our sedentary routine. There is so much we can do to ease this burden on ourselves. If you are looking for that something special or a little different from your usual aromatherapy massage than Thai Hot compresses is for you. These compresses contains various herbs that blend together nicely that when heated and used directly onto the skin can relieve sprains, strains and stiffness whilst stimulating the blood flow that allows nutrients to get to vital organs. The treatment will also lower blood pressure creating a very relaxing sensation, brilliant for those who suffer with high blood pressure or stress.
When creating Aromatherapy blends, essential oils are used. This gives blends therapeutic properties as well as a scent. Aroma therapists usually blend oils using a similar method to that used to create perfumes. Normally only three or four essential oils are used in a blend and these will be comprised of at least one each of top, middle and base notes. This can make a blend smell more pleasant or balanced but it also means that the blend will have a synergy since different oils can be combined to create a blend with more therapeutic properties than that of a single essential oil. Blends can be made to help with a variety of symptoms or problems because of this.
Essential oils can be divided into top, middle and base notes although there is still debate over some oils as to which category they belong in.
When most people think of doing anything, their first concern is almost always either the cost or the time. There are so many people that miss out on really good things because they believe it will cost them to much money, or take up to much time.
