If you are looking for a Sports Therapy Southampton session to help you be at your absolute best in your chosen Sport, then we have some excellent Sports Therapists for you to meet!
Our Sports Therapists have a great deal of hands on and pitch side experience, as well as Sports Massage and other extensive qualifications.
Sports Therapy will access and recognise any restrictions you are having, work with you to recover and develop practices to reduce further harm.
Sports Therapists are not Physiotherapists, but they do possess similar skills, applying similar methods for the treatment or prevention of injury or muskolo-skeletal disorders. The YOU Massage Southampton Sports Therapists are also Sports Massage Therapists.
Individual sessions and Group Sports Therapy classes are available.
Sports Therapy can aid recovery from and prevention of injury
If you play Sports regularly, or spend extensive periods being still, you will know your body needs extra care and attention to function at it's best.
Your Sports Therapist will apply assessment and techniques to develop a good sense of function in your muscles, connective tissues and joints.
By working on muscle imbalances that caused, or will cause, injury, you will prevent damage and increase strength and stamina with Sports Therapy.
By increasing mobility, circulation and tissue mobility, you will benefit from improved performance, reduced scar tissue, pain and frequency of injury
Sports Therapists will also work with you to deliver expert advice and develop strong and healthy habits
If you have any of the health conditions in the list below, Sports Massage is not appropriate. Feel free to contact us for more information on why.
Do not proceed with Sports Massage if you have:
Heart Disease; Rheumatoid Arthritis (Osteoarthritis is OK); Inflammatory Spinal Conditions such as Spondylitis; Severe Respiratory Disorders; Cerebral Palsy; Diabetes; Epilepsy; Very High Blood Pressure; Recent Injury such as Whiplash or tear; or if you are Pregnant.
We will normally offer a much gentler form of Massage Therapy as an alternative for you, there are some conditions where even gentle massage may not be suitable, click here to read about more serious contra-indications.
IF YOU HAVE A LIFE THREATENING DISEASE OR SERIOUS MEDICAL CONDITION, SEEK ADVICE FROM YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE RECEIVING A MASSAGE, DOCTOR'S CONSENT MAY BE REQUIRED, CONTACT US FOR MORE INFORMATION.
If this is your first visit to the YOU Massage studio, you will be guided through a new client consultation, so we have your health and well-being history for therapist reference. You will be asked about areas of pain and discomfort and the history of such, this will assure the therapist is working to your needs.
You will be given a great deal of expert advice on maintaining good health, post treatment, based on your current presenting conditions, and given exercises and, or, stretches to address problems.
Our Southampton Sports Therapists can diagnose problems, with the help of Sports Massage and, or, osteopathy to address musculoskeletal alignment.
Our Sports Therapists have direct experience in working with atheletes, including entire teams, and a range of patients from all backgrounds. They will check range of motion, muscle strengths and weaknesses as well as general feelings each and every session.
Whether you join one of our circuit style classes on a Tuesday evening (click to follow the link to our Group Sports Therapy page), or you book a one on one individual session, you will be guided to correct postures and treated with expert techniques to combat tension and reduce injury.
Think of your session to be a combination of Sports Massage, Physiotherapy and Exercise Therapy, tailored, specifically, for you.
