Traditional Thai Foot Massage

What is a Traditional Thai Foot Massage?

Our feet spend most of the day carrying us around, yet they’re often the last part of the body we think about when it comes to relaxation.

Thai Foot Massage gives you the opportunity to slow down, put your feet up and let someone else take care of them. Whether you’ve been on your feet all day, spend long hours sitting at a desk or simply need some time away from the demands of everyday life, this traditional treatment offers a wonderfully relaxing way to reset

Thai Foot Massage is a traditional treatment combining foot massage, pressure-point work, gentle stretching and massage of the lower legs to create a deeply relaxing and revitalising experience.

Rooted in traditional Thai massage, this treatment is much more than a soothing foot rub. Your therapist uses their hands, fingers, knuckles and traditional massage tools to work through the feet and lower legs, combining rhythmic pressure with gentle movements and stretches.

Thai Foot Massage incorporates techniques traditionally associated with Thai Massage and Reflexology, working methodically through the feet while also giving attention to the ankles, calves and lower legs.

The treatment can be both relaxing and invigorating, making it particularly lovely if your feet and legs feel tired, tense or overworked, or if you’re looking for a treatment that helps you switch off while still leaving you feeling refreshed.

Benefits of Thai Foot Massage

Our feet carry us throughout the day, so giving them some dedicated attention can be wonderfully restorative.

Thai Foot Massage may help to:

  • Ease tension and tiredness in the feet and lower legs
  • Relax tight muscles and connective tissues
  • Improve comfortable movement through the feet and ankles
  • Encourage circulation
  • Reduce feelings of physical tension
  • Promote relaxation and a sense of wellbeing
  • Help you feel refreshed and re-energised
  • Create a calming break from everyday stress
  • Support relaxation before bedtime
  • Leave your feet and legs feeling lighter and more comfortable

The combination of massage, pressure points and gentle stretching makes Thai Foot Massage a lovely choice when you want something more active and stimulating than a simple foot massage, but still deeply relaxing.

When is Not Recomended

Thai Foot Massage isn’t suitable for everyone, particularly where there are conditions affecting the feet or where massage may not be appropriate.

Please speak with us before booking if you have:

  • Athlete’s Foot or another fungal infection
  • Fungal nail infections
  • Verrucas or plantar warts
  • Open wounds or inflamed skin on the feet
  • A recent injury affecting the feet or lower legs
  • A medical condition that may make massage unsuitable

Thai Foot Massage is not offered during pregnancy.

If you have cancer, are undergoing medical treatment, or have another significant health condition, please speak with your doctor or healthcare professional before receiving massage therapy.

If you’re unsure whether this treatment is suitable for you, please contact us before booking.

Thai Foot Massage & Reflexology — what's the difference?

Although the two treatments share some techniques and both focus on the feet, Thai Foot Massage and Reflexology are not the same treatment.

Reflexology focuses primarily on applying specific pressure to mapped areas of the feet, following traditional reflexology principles.

Thai Foot Massage takes a broader approach, combining pressure-point work with massage, stretching and movement through the feet, ankles, calves and lower legs.

If you’re not sure which treatment would suit you best, our team can help you choose.

What to Expect from your Treatment

Your Thai Foot Massage will take place in a comfortable and relaxed environment, with the treatment focusing on your feet and lower legs.

You’ll remain comfortably clothed throughout the treatment, although we recommend wearing loose or comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the lower legs.

Your therapist will begin by warming the feet and lower legs before using a combination of:

  • Massage techniques
  • Pressure-point work
  • Rhythmic movements
  • Gentle stretches and rotations
  • Work with the hands, knuckles and traditional Thai massage tools

The treatment can be adapted according to how your body feels on the day. Let your therapist know if you prefer lighter or firmer pressure so they can make the experience comfortable for you.

You may leave feeling relaxed and calm, while also experiencing a lovely sense of lightness and renewed energy through the feet and legs.
