Gua Sha Facial

Stone-Assisted Massage for Tension, Release & Facial Rejuvenation

A restorative treatment using smooth Gua Sha stones to work through areas of tension in the body, followed by facial and neck techniques to leave you feeling lighter, brighter and rebalanced.

The Ritual

Gua Sha is a traditional East Asian massage technique that uses a smooth, flat-edged stone as an aid to work across the skin and underlying tissues.

Rather than relying only on the hands, your therapist uses Jade, Rose Quartz or Bian stone to apply controlled pressure and gliding movements across areas of tension. The technique can be used along pressure points and traditional meridian pathways, helping to release areas of tightness and encourage movement through the fascia.

Gua Sha can be particularly effective for areas where tension commonly builds, such as the neck, shoulders and upper back. The technique used on the body is firmer and more targeted, while facial Gua Sha is much lighter and more delicate.

Your Gua Sha Experience

Your therapist will tailor the treatment to where you are holding tension and what you would like to address.

Body Gua Sha uses the stone with deeper, more deliberate movements across the neck, shoulders and other areas of muscular tension. The pressure and technique can help loosen tight tissues and improve mobility.

As the treatment progresses, you may notice some temporary redness on the skin. This is traditionally referred to as “Sha” and is a normal response to the body Gua Sha technique.

The treatment then moves into a gentler facial and neck Gua Sha ritual, using lighter strokes and different shaped stones to work across the face, neck and jaw.

Please speak to your therapist before booking if you have a significant skin condition, broken or highly sensitive skin, or any medical condition that may affect your suitability for facial massage.

Why You Will Love It?

Gua Sha is a wonderful choice if you want something more targeted than a conventional relaxing massage, while still enjoying the calming experience of hands-on treatment.

It can help to:

  • Release tension through the neck and shoulders
  • Loosen areas of restricted or tight fascia
  • Encourage mobility through tense areas
  • Work with pressure points and areas of muscular congestion
  • Stimulate circulation through the treated tissues
  • Reduce the appearance of facial puffiness
  • Leave the complexion looking brighter and refreshed
  • Soften the appearance of fine lines
  • Encourage a more lifted and toned appearance in the face

The combination of firmer body Gua Sha followed by gentle facial work makes this a particularly lovely treatment when you feel both physically tense and in need of a facial refresh.

The Gua Sha Difference

The stone isn’t simply an alternative to using hands. Its smooth, flat surface allows your therapist to create a different kind of pressure and movement across the skin, making it possible to work into areas of tension in a very precise way.

For the body, this can be deeper and more remedial. For the face, the technique becomes softer and more fluid, focusing on circulation, puffiness and facial muscle tone.

Please let your therapist know about any medical conditions, skin concerns or recent injuries when booking so we can make sure Gua Sha is suitable for you.
