Want to try Yoga? The Benefits of Attending Yoga Classes Tailored for Beginners

Beginners Yoga Classes in Southampton

Yoga Essentials – New Beginner Yoga Classes in Southampton

There are many Vinyasa Yoga classes available where you can join as a beginner and practice alongside more experienced yogis. These classes are often described as ‘mixed ability’ or ‘beginner friendly’. They may be suitable for relative beginners, who have been practicing for a few months perhaps, but what if you have never done yoga before and would like to find the right class to begin your practice? Should you join a ‘mixed abilities’ Vinyasa Yoga Class? I would suggest not, and that you choose instead a class specially tailored for complete beginners, such as the Yoga Essentials Classes at YOU Massage Therapy, Southampton.

So, why is it best to attend the Yoga Essentials class first?

To start with, let’s explain Vinyasa Flow Yoga. Vinyasa is dynamic style of yoga described as breath-synchronized, sequential movement that interlinks postures to form a continuous flow. It means that the movement is closely tied with breath and the teacher guides the students on when to inhale and when to exhale during the class. Therefore there is normally less time to go into details of the positions as some of them are held just for one breath. This is the beauty of the Vinyasa class – the fluidity, moving with grace, following the rhythm of the breath. But it requires some basic knowledge from the participant so he or she can move flawlessly from one posture to another. This is why, if you’ve never done yoga before, you should choose a course for beginners before attending Vinyasa Yoga Classes. 8-10 classes is enough to learn basics and to move forward in your yoga journey.

Every journey starts with a single step and you can make this step with us at YOU Massage Therapy, Southampton. Beginners are welcome to join our Yoga Essentials Classes. Book Online

How Yoga can help to build Core Strength

YOU Massage therapy also runs a number of other Yoga Classes, in addition to this one.

On the Yoga Essentials course, you will be introduced to yoga slowly, step by step. You will learn how to perform positions correctly to maximise the benefits and to minimise the risk of injury. The teacher will guide you on how to align your knees, your back, your pelvis, your shoulders. You will have a chance to spend more time in one position and explore, modify and… adjust it to your individual needs under the watchful eye of your teacher. This excellent course will definitely make your future classes enjoyable, beneficial and safe. It will help you to adopt habits which, with time, will allow you to correctly adopt the positions without too much thinking of how to do it. When you hear the instruction ‘exhale, take the downward facing dog’ you will know exactly the way to move and align your body. When taking this beginners course you’ll become more aware of your own body, its abilities and limitations. And of course you’ll still have a teacher who will constantly observe your practice and help you to make all necessary adjustments to help you to progress. You will feel more confident and mindful in your practice and have solid fundamentals to develop yourself as a yogi.
