WINTER BLEND – WARMING SOOTHE

Aromatherapy and Hot stonesAromatherapy is simply the use of plant essential oils for a therapeutic effect (such as promoting health and well-being). Essential oils have been used therapeutically for thousands of years and are still being used effectively today in many products ranging from medical (Tea Tree oil for fungal infections) to beauty (Grapefruit and Mint oils in your refreshing shampoo or body wash). In France, Aromatherapy is an established field in medical practice which Doctors can use to help treat conditions such as seizures and diabetes. There, they will usually prescribe essential oils to be ingested rather than used topically (on the skin) as we do with massage but this also depends on the condition they are treating. In massage, we use essential oils to tailor a treatment more specifically to you. We mix them into plain oil, such as Grapeseed oil, and then use this as the massage oil. The oils can be used to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, calm digestive issues, invigorate, reduce stress and anxiety, help with depression, improve sleep… the list goes on!  If you wish to learn more about Aromatherapy this is a great website.

We have a selection of pre-blended oils which are blended by our in house Aromatherapists (Nikki, Annie and Amy) which are designed to target the most common complaints that we encounter (pain, tension, headaches, stress etc). However, if required, our Aromatherapists can create a blend that is more specific to your needs. That being said, I would like to turn the spotlight onto one of our pre-blended oils. Our wonderfully warming, winter blend: Warming Soothe!

Warming soothe is made up of Black Pepper (Piper nigrum), Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum), Rosemary (Rosemarinus officinalis) and Marjoram (Origanum marjorana) essential oils blended with Grapeseed oil for direct application to the skin or bath. This blend encourages muscular tension and pain to just melt away. Black Pepper is a great
Add this oil into your Hot Stones treatment or in your Hot Oils treatment and your muscles should ease up and feel less painful in a shorter amount of time. Or allow the benefit of your treatment to last longer by using the oil at home as a massage oil or in the bath.oil that is often avoided because of its peppery smell! However, blended in the right way with other essential oils, that complement it, means it adds a certain warmth and spiciness to the scent of a blend. Therapeutically, it is mainly used to help relieve painful or stiff joints, sprains and sciatica. It can also help ease angina and rheumatoid arthritis. aroma cinCinnamon has a sweet but sharp aroma and is a powerful oil. Cinnamon can help reduce feelings of nausea, ease breathing and is also a tonic for the heart. Marjoram is a great calming oil for the nervous system (hyperactivity, headaches, depression) as well as for the respiratory (coughs, colds, sinusitis), circulatory (lowers blood pressure) and digestive systems. But it is also fantastic at relieving muscle aches, rheumatism, arthritis and menstrual pain. Our final oil is Rosemary. It has a strong, herbal aroma which can boost memory and concentration. It is also good for general fatigue, Raynaud’s disease and is an anti-inflammatory for muscles which in turn, helps relieve pain. Overall, this blend should leave you feeling soothed of aches and pains as well as warm and comforted! In the studio, we use this oil when a client is feeling achy and stiff or has recently done an event/sport to create that ‘overworked’ feeling in the muscles. This is done in order to soothe, warm and relax the muscles. The Warming Soothe blend is also a useful blend to use when someone has a chill in them to help get their circulation going and spread warmth through the body.
